Everything you need to know about eco-friendly paper

Eco Friendly Toilet Paper. Bamboo. Zero Plastic. Save the forest

For as long as humans have walked the planet, people have been using many different tools and methods to clean up after going to the bathroom. Today, the modern toilet paper roll is ubiquitous in bathrooms all over the world.

The problem with toilet paper is that it requires an immense amount of natural resources to get made. Millions of trees are cut down, and millions of gallons of water are needed to manufacture the toilet paper rolls that are in such high demand, especially in North America. It is impossible to recover these resources once they’re used.

Thankfully, there are now many alternatives to toilet paper. You can use a bidet, or if you still prefer wiping, you can opt for eco-friendly toilet paper!

Recycled Toilet Paper

When talking about eco-friendliness, recycled toilet paper is usually at the forefront of people’s minds. This is produced by using recycled paper for manufacturing each roll. Paper is placed in a large tub of water and then aerated to remove the ink. After soaking, it is bleached and then sanitized.

Once the paper is sanitized, the process that follows is identical to using virgin pulp to make regular toilet paper. This involves getting sprayed and strained against mesh screens and then pressed and dried to 5% moisture content. The large sheets of paper are wound into rolls, cut, and wrapped in packages for sale and distribution.

Bamboo Toilet Paper

Did you know that bamboo grows up to 1 meter per day? This rate is 20 times faster than other trees, and you don’t even need to use pesticides or fertilizer. They don’t need vast amounts of water to remain healthy, either. Bamboo farmers have little to no trouble growing them by the hectare.

Bamboo can be harvested every year, and it does not need replanting. When you remove a bamboo cane, the growth process accelerates. Soon after harvest, new canes will sprout from the base.

Bamboo canes are naturally soft and strong. Therefore, you don’t need to use any chemicals to manufacture paper products from bamboo. You just break down the plant into fibers and add these fibers to a mixture to create pulp. Bamboo pulp is then soaked, pressed, and formed into rolls of tissue paper.

Best of all, bamboo products are perfectly biodegradable, and they return to the soil without an impact on the greater environment.

The Most Eco-Friendly Toilet Paper

Bamboo toilet paper is far and away the most environmentally friendly toilet paper available in the market. The material source is sustainable and widely available, and the end product is fully biodegradable. When you opt for bamboo products, you are significantly reducing your carbon footprint.

For many environmentally conscious people, bamboo has become the material of choice for other personal products such as toothbrushes, bathrobes, and even home décor. Its attractive mix of flexibility, strength, and, most of all, biodegradability make it great for all kinds of use around the home.

Conclusion

Every person in the world should be more conscious of his or her carbon footprint. While it is easy to switch to reusable grocery bags and take a bike to work, one place many people take for granted is the bathroom. Regular toilet paper takes away so many resources from the environment, and it’s past time that people look to more eco-friendly options. Bamboo toilet paper is a significant step to take for a more sustainable life!
